Emily Williams was an Australian idol that achieved second place in the 2005 series. Since then Emily hasn’t stopped! Soon after IDOL, Williams joined three other Australian Idol contestants including Kate DeAraugo, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Paulini Curuenavuli for a national tour. To promote the tour, the four released a cover of the Donna Summer hit classic “This Time I Know It’s for Real” under the name “Young Divas.” This single was released on May 6, 2006 and proved to be a success debuting at number seven and peaking at number two, the single went platinum and was in the top thirty charts for twenty-two weeks. Originally a music video was not to be included but after much demand and the popularity of the single, a music video was released. They appeared on television shows across the nation to promote the single and tour. The Young Divas’ tour was so popular that it ran for much longer than originally planned. Since the single and tour has been so popular, the Young Divas recorded an album of remakes of classics from around the world. “Young Divas,” their self-titled debut album, was released on 18 November 2006, and debuted at number four on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. Their second single “Happenin’ All over Again” (a cover of Lonnie Gordon’s disco classic) peaked at number nine. The “Young Divas” enjoyed continued success with hits suck has “Turn me loose,” and “Searching.” Emily’s hugely anticipated solo launch is currently in the making. As the winner of Australian Idol, Kate DeAraugo was immediately sent to the studio to work on her debut album which raced to the top of the charts. She released her debut single "Maybe Tonight", on November 27, 2005 and with sales of 20,307 copies, it debuted at number-one! It was awarded a platinum award by ARIA, and knocked off the top spot by third place winner Lee Harding with his debut single "Wasabi"/Eye of the Tiger". The single stayed in the top fifty for thirteen weeks. In September 2006, "Maybe Tonight" was nominated for an ARIA Award for "Highest Selling Single." DeAraugo released her debut album A Place I've Never Been on December 12, 2005 through Sony BMG, her album debuted at number ten on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart with 15,600 copies sold in its first week. The album stayed in the top fifty for eight weeks and on the chart for nineteen weeks. It was certified platinum in its first week. DeAraugo's second single "Faded" was released on February 19, 2006 and was co-written by Australian pop-rock duo The Veronicas. "Faded" debuted at number eight on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart and number three on the Australasian charts, the single stayed in the top one hundred charts for twenty-four weeks.
